A Licensed Consumer Proposal Administrator / Licensed Insolvency Trustee administers your consumer proposal. 

The most common method of filing a proposal is for you to file Consumer Proposal under the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act in Canada. 

You choose your Licensed Consumer Proposal Administrator to act in your Consumer Proposal. You choose your filing date, at which time all your proposal documents are signed. Your Licensed Administrator then delivers some of your signed documents to the Official Receiver who works for the Federal government in the Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy. 

It is the Official Receiver who appoints your Licensed Consumer Proposal Administrator for your proposalbased on your proposal document. The appointment of your Licensed Administrator is classified as a Court appointment. 

Your date your Consumer Proposal, is the date your Licensed Administrator files your proposal document with the Official Receiver. 

You should note that although you choose your Licensed Consumer Proposal Administrator, your Licensed Administrator does not work for you. Your Administrator is licensed by the Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy to administer consumer proposals under the provisions of the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act in Canada. Your Licensed Consumer Proposal Administrator is an independent Officer of the Court.
